When oil and gas fields end production, their facilities need to be decommissioned. In the UK and Norway more than 100 platforms are forecasted for complete or patial removal, more than 1,800 wells will be plugged and abandoned and close to 7,500 km of pipelines will be dismantled. About EUR 21,000,000,000 will be spent for decommissioning in the North Sea during the next 10 years.
